Placing implants well as a treatment plan is a necessary process for long-term implant success.
To place implants well is to place them in their ideal three-dimensional position. Implants must be placed in adequate position, angulation, and depth.
In particular, depth control is a critical element in determining the emergence profile and securing the stability of crestal bone.
The installation depth is largely impacted by the choice of implant system.
Internal rigid bone-level implant systems will cause complications if placed shallowly, and therefore should be placed deep.
Modern digitally guided surgeries may be the most optimal tool to place implants in the planned position, angulation, and depth.
However, since they are based on CT images, it may be difficult to determine the appropriate installation depth before the surgery.
This lecture will discuss the rationale and methods for adjusting the final implant depth in bone-level implant systems.

This lecture, intended for implant novices, will provide the practical principle and methodology of placing implants well. I will present the most basic treatment plan. I will also cover the preparation of surgical tools that we must equip for efficient surgery, the design of the flap, and the incision method. This time, I will mainly talk about mandibular implant treatment. I will explain in detail the concept and technology of implant surgery for each missing site. The target audience is dentists with the experience of less than 1,000 placed implants. However, I still recommend this course to more experienced dentists who wish to improve their implant placement skills.
